#58 Crew

Team Members:

Joe Polny-  Crew Chief

Since 1988, Joe Polny has made his life about racing.  After a stint in North Carolina, working for 3 successful, then Busch, teams.  He honed his fabrication skills, and learned what it took to become a crew chief.  Upon returning to Pennsylvania, he created his own team.  Since 2002 Joe has visited victory lane 67 times, in northeast short track racing, the 2 most recent in their 2010 championship season with Onderko Motorsports.

Tiffany Harmon-  Body Specialist and Car Chief

Tiffany works with Joe to prepare our racecars.  She is also responsible for the way our cars look.  She not only creates unique one of a kind designs, but has the ability to bring them to life as well.  Tiffany is also an accomplished welder.  She can often be found keeping our cars together, checking them over making sure they are strong.  She doesn’t like it when the #58 gets abused, but knows it looks its best in victory lane.

Michael Onderko-  Marketing

Michael started this team back in 1997 when his son Justin expressed an interest in racing.  Since then he has filled many roles, crew chief, hauler driver, and mechanic to name a few.  Michael now fills a marketing position for the team.  Responsible for obtaining and retaining the team’s sponsors, it is a role that he feels especially suited for.  He also heads up our involvement with RAD(Racers Against Drugs).  Michael can often be found on the phone or meeting with potential sponsors, but come race day, he likes to find himself in victory lane celebrating with the team.

Tyler Martin- Chief Mechanic

Since he joined us in 2003, Tyler has held just about every position at Onderko Motorsports.  From a former fabricator to his current role of Chief Mechanic, Tyler loves racing.  He is constantly reviewing how and why we prepare our cars.  He feels being an understudy of our Crew Chief, Joe Polny, has helped him perform his duties better than ever.  Tyler’s favorite part of the day is when he loads the #58 on the hauler with all of its fenders, after winning of course.

Marisa Miller-Tire Specialist and Videographer

A relative newcomer to our team, Marisa has proved herself to be a quick study.  Since 2008, when she came aboard, Marisa has focused her efforts on preparing the #58’s tires, because she knows “. . .tires- is what wins a race . . .”. Not her only job, she can often be found in the shop, or taking the video of our races, she is quite versatile.  She hates to see her tires get abused, but tolerates post win burn-outs.

Dana Onderko- Data Acquisition, Race Day Car Prep, Tire Specialist

Dana has a fierce competitive streak in her, just like her brother.  Dana’s role is hard to define, for she does so much on race day.  Besides assisting Marisa with tires, she is responsible for all of our #58 data.  With an obsessive attention to detail, she makes sure our Crew Chief has what he needs to make the right changes.  Joe counts on her to be accurate; she holds the map that takes us back to the winner’s circle time and again.

Alicia Onderko- Apparel and Photographer

Not many late-model teams can say that they have an apparel line, but Alicia makes that a reality for Onderko Motorsports.  If you’ve seen one of our crew members, then you’ve seen her work.  She’s been a staple from the beginning, she’s Justin’s mom.  If she’s not designing new items for our fans or making the team look good, she’s behind the camera snapping pictures.  Interesting angles are her photography specialty, but the ones in victory lane are her favorite.

Clarance Harmmersly- Mechanical Consultant.

“Hammer”, as he likes to be called, is the newest member of our growing team.  Though this is his first year with us, he is certainly not new to racing.  A former winning driver, and then winning car owner, Hammer has done it all.  He actually housed our championship effort this year.  Hammer enjoys giving our #58 a home, but is more fond of the visits we make to the winner’s circle.
